Expert Carpenters

Good carpentry is the difference between a house that works and one that irritates you daily. Our carpenters hang and ease doors, build alcove shelving and storage to fit, repair skirting, architrave and floorboards, and fit the timberwork other trades leave behind — across London and Surrey, measured properly and finished cleanly.

Carpentry is charged at a clear hourly rate with no call-out fee, and we take card payment securely on completion. From a sticking door to a run of bespoke shelving, you'll know the likely time and cost before we pick up a saw.

What Our Carpenters Do

The full breadth of carpentry work we carry out across London and Surrey — in detail.

Doors Hung, Eased & Repaired

New doors hung square on their hinges, old doors eased so they close without a shoulder, and locks, latches, handles and hinges fitted or replaced. A door that sticks or slams is the kind of fault you notice every single day — and it rarely takes us more than an hour or two to put right.

Alcove Shelving & Built-In Storage

Shelving and storage built to fit the space you actually have — alcoves, awkward corners, under stairs — rather than the nearest flat-pack size. Scribed to uneven walls, fixed to take real weight, and finished ready for paint. Made-to-measure joinery at a clear hourly rate.

Skirting, Architrave & Mouldings

Damaged skirting and architrave repaired or replaced, new runs fitted with clean mitres, and profiles matched as closely as stock allows — including period mouldings that off-the-shelf lengths ignore. Neat caulked lines, ready for the decorator.

Floorboards & Timber Repairs

Loose, squeaking or damaged floorboards lifted, repaired and re-fixed, joists checked while the boards are up, and rot-damaged timber cut out and replaced. Solid underfoot, flush at the edges, and no more creak on the landing.

Kitchen & Furniture Carpentry

Kitchen doors and drawers re-aligned, hinges swapped, worktops eased and refitted, wardrobes and furniture assembled, anchored and adjusted. The precision end of carpentry — millimetres matter, and we bring the tools that hold them.

Decking, Gates & Outdoor Timber

Decking boards replaced and refixed, wobbly handrails secured, gates rehung so they latch first time, and fence timbers repaired before the next storm finds them. Outdoor carpentry done with the right treated timber and fixings that shrug off the weather.

How It Works

From first call to 12-month guarantee — how every carpentry job runs.

1

Tell Us About the Job

One door or a full run of shelving — describe the work (photos and rough measurements help) and we'll confirm the hourly rate and how long it should take.

2

Measured Before Cut

Your carpenter arrives with the tools for the job, checks the measurements and the fixing surfaces, and agrees the approach with you before any timber is cut.

3

Done Properly

Square, level, scribed to the wall it actually meets. Timber and materials you haven't supplied are provided at trade price plus 30%.

4

Tidy Finish & Guarantee

Dust sheets up, sawdust gone, card on completion — and the workmanship carries the same 12-month guarantee as every CS Services trade.

Why Choose CS Services

  • Measured-and-scribed joinery, not made-to-fit bodges — work that looks built with the house.
  • The right fixings for the actual wall — brick, block, lath-and-plaster or plasterboard.
  • Backed by a full trades firm: if a job turns out to need gas, plumbing or certified electrics, the right engineer is one call away.
  • £105 per hour with no call-out fee, billed in 15-minute increments after the first hour.
  • Vetted, insured and house-trained — dust sheets, clean boots, no mess left behind.
  • 12-month guarantee on all carpentry workmanship.

Common Carpentry Problems We Fix

Sound familiar? Here's what's usually behind it — and how we put it right.

"Doors stick, scrape the floor or won't close properly"

Timber moves with the seasons, hinges drop and new flooring steals clearance. We ease and adjust the door, re-hang or trim it where needed, and sort the latch alignment — so it closes with a click instead of a shoulder barge.

"Floorboards creak, bounce or have visible gaps"

Creaks are boards rubbing on loose fixings or joists that have dried and shrunk. We lift the affected boards, refix them properly, replace any that are split and fill or re-lay gapped sections — quieter underfoot and safer too.

"Window sills, frames or fascias are going soft and rotten"

Caught early, rot can be cut out and spliced with new treated timber; left, it spreads into the frame and the repair becomes a replacement. We assess honestly, repair where repair is sound, and match profiles so the fix doesn't announce itself.

"Alcoves and awkward corners are wasted space"

Off-the-shelf furniture rarely fits period alcoves and sloped ceilings. We design, build and fit shelving, cupboards and wardrobes made to measure to the millimetre — using the space you already own instead of losing it.
